Sketches

Here is a selection of our favourite Dead Ringers sketches, as featured on Youtube. It's incredibly gratifying the way people record these bits and stick them up in such huge numbers, particularly sketches, which seem such an ephemeral form of comedy. In lieu of the much talked-about and increasingly mythical DVD release, this is pretty much the only place you can see them.

NEW! - QUEEN'S DVD - We love this one. So brilliant to get the 'Banzai' guy doing the pointing.

NEW! - DRAGONS' DEN - A good parady, and a useful way to use the whole cast.

NEW! - THE BILL ODDIESEY - Silly pun ahoy!

NEW! - SUPERNANNY - A fun little sketch. The first of many.

STAR WARS/HARRY POTTER/LORD OF THE RINGS - A nice little sketch. It looks really good considering it was recorded in the studio on the day it was broadcast to the audience.

REAL STORY SINISTER CULT: One of the many many Fiona Bruce sketches we wrote. We love Jon's 'shifty Obi-Wan' performance in this.

ANDREW MARR: After umpteen series on radio, we really enjoyed doing visual jokes, like Andrew Marr's arms. 'Passer by' is brilliantly played by Phil Cornwell, stealing the sketch there.

YET ANOTHER COSTUME DRAMA: Another adapted radio sketch, a sequel to 'Token British Bad Guys'.

OZZY AND SHARON: Ad for BBC Worldwide

GEORGE BUSH: From the Election Special

SOUTH BANK: A fun crossover - brilliantly animated by Kate Sullivan.

COMIC RELIEF SKETCH: Jon and Jan are joined by Ronni Ancona and John Sessions for this. It was a lot of fun juggling the impressions to make a sketch. It was eventually shown about two in the morning, but Russell Brand seemed happy to see it.

HRH to HRT: Not as cheesy as we wanted it to look (we wanted obvious burly stunt doubles) but a lot of fun.

DRIFTWOOD: Purely an exercise in resurrecting Phil Cornwell's impression of Albert Steptoe.

JAMES BOND: An old sketch from series one, hence the Brosnan impression. Quite basic, but it compliments the cheesy nature of the sketch.

CAROL VORDEMAN AD: Nice simple sketch. Good use of computer trickery too.

MR MEN: Some lovely animation here that makes it work so well.

FOX NEWS: Our take on Fox News for our American Election Special. Really enjoyed writing this.

BBC IDENTS: We couldn't make our own, but we had a lot of fun seeking out stock footage.

CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON QUITS: Our take on Eccleston's sudden departure from Dr Who, days after the series started.

TOKEN BRITISH BAD GUYS: An early sketch from series one, adapted from a radio sketch.

CRAZY FROST: We had the idea on a friday, and animator David Hooper completed it for the audience recording on the sunday. I don't think he slept!

CHRISTMAS DAY AT DR WHO'S: A contrast to our goofy sci-fi stuff, we wanted to do a more grim washed-out sketch with embarrassing pauses. Naturally all that went in favour of gags, but it's still loads of fun.

THE STREETS: Very tricky to do in one take, and it took ages, but it was worth it.

ITV NEWS: The kind and deluded soul who put this up on youtube actually spliced in the real graphics (which we couldn't afford to make). Good on him. Shame about the spelling mistake!
